Devoted to the stability of the community, Fran and her staff fix problems immediately. They are open and uncommonly friendly. They strive to maintain the Chief as a safe, quiet place to live at affordable prices.
FRAN MILLS, PROPERTY MANAGER
How many mobile home parks are managed by someone with a certificate degree, with high honors, in Gerontology as a way to better serve older residents? The probable answer is one – Fran Mills, community / property manager of Chief Mobile Home Park in Justice, Illinois.
In four years, all the while studying for her degree, Fran has made exceptional progress for Chief in personnel, infrastructure, homeowner relations and relationships with Justice leadership.
Justice Mayor Kris Wasowicz and Building Commissioner and Code Enforcement Ed Shilka have praised Fran for the improvements she has brought to Chief Mobile Home Park. Fran is also the past president of the Justice Senior Citizen’s Club.
Fran hired and manages Chief’s staff, has overseen the paving of streets and the upgrading of the park’s electric service. She also created, planned and runs the annual family-friendly summer barbeque featuring live entertainment and a DJ.
In Fran’s own words: ” Every day brings a special situation or something that has to be dealt with in a manner that cannot be written as procedure or policy. Being able to handle these situations and special circumstances is what I pride myself in every day. To diffuse a problem or come up with a reasonable solution and being able to think on my feet gets me where I am today.
“I have formed an intergraded system with the residents for them to do their part and we do ours. Together we have created what Chief is today and, with further implementation, what we have yet to achieve.”
Fran spent 14 years with Orkin Pest Control as office manager and 18 months on Orkin’s regional staff helping to train and organize other office managers at 14 locations across Northern IL. She worked in the residential as well as the commercial divisions of the company.
Following her employment with Orkin, she was with Century 21 for five years as a real estate agent specializing in mobile homes.
She was born and raised in Berwyn, and “… back in the day, I was a three time champion racecar driver in the ladies division at Santa Fe Speedway.”
She is the mother of three daughters and grandmother of two.
